Letter From Your President

Welcome Spring! The groundhog says spring will be here early! I am not so sure, snow seems to be in the forecast every other day. I certainly hope everything thaws and warms before our very exciting Spring Bazaar on May 14th. Jane Markert and friends are very busy brainstorming and planning some awesome activities and vendor stands. We even have Kauffman’s Barbeque Chicken coming and bringing the succulent smell of roasting chicken around lunchtime. I will be handing out chicken tickets to sell very soon.

The Confirmation Class is blooming under the guidance of Pastor Bob and Spiritual Friends. I have had the opportunity to sit in on numerous classes and learn along with the youth. I have also sat with Zachary at home and helped him read and answer questions in his workbook. I have to admit, I still have a lot to learn or relearn from 1980. I invite you to join the confirmands at one of their classes. Take time to talk to them after church, let these young adults know that their congregation supports them.

As I mentioned during our Congregational Meeting last month, the process of seeking out a new pastor is in the works. The weather in January prevented Consistory from meeting with Pastor Char Burch our area conference minister. The next date she had available to meet with Consistory will be on March 15th. Pastor Burch will present to the board a brief but thorough overview of the Profile process and the Search and Call process. A profile committee has already been put into place. I will keep information and updates coming as I learn more. I would like to reiterate what Ken Hoover mentioned during our Congregational Meeting concerning our stewardship to St. Luke’s. Showing good stewardship is such an integral part of being a member of one’s church. It is the basis of our UCC faith. We say the words “He calls us into the church to accept the joy and cost of discipleship,,,,” when we repeat in unison The UCC Statement of Faith during Sunday worship. It is important that we stay true to our faith and also be role models for our upcoming future members of St. Luke’s. If you have ideas of how the Finance and Stewardship team can foster and grow our stewardship here at St. Luke’s please join them at one of their meetings.

March 9th is Ash Wednesday which begins our journey through Lent and then to Easter. Ash Wednesday service will begin at 7:00 PM. I have heard some wonderful things about the services that are planned and also some special music as well. I look forward to worshiping with many of you during this time. Despite what the groundhog did or did not see; St. Luke’s is slowly morphing into a spring of its own. We are taking on each project one step at a time. I am excited to watch the inside and the outside of our church taking on so many new possibilities and changes in the future months. Let us not forget to prayerfully ask God for guidance during these new possibilities and changes that do lie ahead. Let us not forget to also praise God for the gifts we already have. Pray for each other, love one another and support each other.

Faithfully Submitted:  Wendy A. Musser, Consistory President

Welcome Pastor Bob

St Luke's Welcomes Pastor Robert Bistline as its newly appointed interim pastor.

Letter From the Interim Pastor

Today is Wednesday, the 23rd of February and of course cold and snowy.  We were spoiled last week because of 60 degree weather.

Judie and I were spoiled in Sarasota, Florida from February 20th until February 22nd (yesterday) where the skies were clear and every day; no rain, (or snow) and the temperature averaged mid 70;s to low 80's every day.  What a contrast!

Life has lots of contrasts and ups and downs.  However our faith practice stabilizes these things for us.

My favorite devotional thought is a brief devotional title "March before May".  The author's point is we must have some of the frustration of March like time before the beautiful spring of May.  We will have this devotion for our March Consistory.  You are welcome to join us.

You are also welcome in Sunday School and worship and soon Lenten services.

We are planning a service with our Confirmands as assistants and adult participation also.

"O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our maker!"  Psalm 95
